Nigeria

Precious Sight has become a staple in Nigeria. We have been able to reach over 25,000 people over the years. It is in Nigeria that we have provided the most reading and prescription glasses.

This is because we provide needed help specifically to where it matters most. In Nigeria, our prescription glasses service is what we are most proud of and we make and give out at least 1000 prescription glasses per year. We also give out hundreds of reading glasses on each outreach. We have travelled to many a town particularly in Western Nigeria from Lagos, to Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and even Kogi State. We have become an established presence in Ikenne where we have annual outreaches in conjunction with the Ikenne Consortium and we also partner with other organisations such as the Funmi Adewole Foundation and Mercy Say’s No (both from USA).

We have attended to a few impactful specific cases in Nigeria and have assisted a few individuals that has really been good for us. An example is when we encountered 2 year old Tiwa who was born with Congenital Cataracts. We have continued to monitor and pay for Tiwa’s ongoing treatment. PSF helped Tiwa not to lose her sight and we are so thankful.

We have also recently helped 9 year old Mary who had Congenital Bilateral Cataracts in both eyes too!
