Nations We’ve Served So Far

Precious Sight has become a staple in Nigeria. We have been able to reach over 25,000 people over the years. It is in Nigeria that we have provided the most reading and prescription glasses. This is because we provide needed help specifically to where it matters most.

We embarked on our Sierra Leone journey in 2017. Our first visit was humbling and we knew that we needed to continue. Since committing to Sierra Leone we have worked out their local strategy which is to have 2 days of regular outreach per month and also a one-day glaucoma outreach where we have seen the same 50 people over the last 2 years to ensure that they can continue to have the eye drops they need regularly.

The journey to the Gambia started in 2015 after our South African project. Outreach programs have been carried out in various locations such as: Manjai; Brikama; Serekunda in the capital of Banjul and Bansang which is a 5-hour drive from the capital.

To start our journey a feasibility study was done in November 2021 and then the largest delegation of 26 volunteers went to Kigali in February 2022 (adults and teenagers alike) on the first intensive outreach program to the nation of Rwanda. After seeing over 1100 patients in 3 days and not seeing everyone we knew we had more to do.

Our South Africa work is in partnership with the House of Wells Charity (UK) which provides support for displaced children and helps them have meaningful lives. Our initial work started with them in Port Elisabeth but since then we have expanded and now screen children in Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe. We have not only provided screening for thousands of children but have also helped with surgeries and glasses for them too.
